    Q:
How to remove the timing chain cover on Lincoln Town Car Overhead cam (OHC) engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by removing the negative battery cable to pull off the Timing Cover. After that, take out the oil filter after draining away the engine oil. Then, remove the water pump pulley, drivebelt, and crankshaft pulley respectively. You should also disconnect the camshaft and crankshaft sensors as well as DIS modules. In addition, the power steering pump bolts are taken off and moved aside. Besides, there is a need to remove the accessory drive belt idler as well as valve covers at both ends. Moreover, Timing Cover bolts as well as the ones under the oil pan will be removed. Finally, use your soft hammer to gently tap it free from its place on the block to separate it from there. The next step is to apply RTV sealant into it and lubricate the timing chains plus the crankshaft oil seal. For instance, the front cover should be installed closely before the bolt are tightened over it.

    A:
On the 7.5L engine, slide off the sleeve from the crankshaft and remove the remaining timing chain cover-to-block bolts. Unbolt and remove all accessory brackets attached to the timing chain cover. From underneath the vehicle, remove the oil pan-to-timing chain cover bolts and cut the oil pan gasket flush with the engine block face using a razor knife. Remove the remaining bolts and gently tap the timing chain cover loose with a soft-face hammer.
