    Q:
How should you prepare the transmission pan and filter for the 2001 Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
Clean the gasket surface of the transmission to remove all remnants of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transmission pan, clean it with solvent, and thoroughly dry it. Upon initial service, you may find a plastic plug in the bottom of the pan, which was used to keep contamination out during assembly. Discard this plug. Remove the old filter from the transmission. If the filter seal didn't come out with the filter, remove it carefully without damaging the seal bore. Install a new seal and filter.

What steps should be taken after lowering the 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis, and how is the fluid level checked? Posted by Customer
    A:
Lower the vehicle and add about four or five pints of automatic transmission fluid through the filler tube. With the transmission in Park and the parking brake set, run the engine at a fast idle. Move the gear selector through each range and back to Park. Check the fluid level and add fluid if needed to reach the correct level.
