- A:Remove the lower mounting bolts of the shock absorbers and the upper suspension arm-to-rear axle housing nuts and bolts. On 1998 and later models, disconnect the four axle-locating arms and the Watts-linkage assembly if present. If equipped with air suspension, disconnect the height sensor. Lower the axle housing until the coil springs are fully extended or remove the air springs.
