To remove the purge valve, you need to disconnect the hoses and wiring plug, then release it from its mounting bracket.

On V6 models, remove the lower cowl trim panel. On 1.5L models, remove the air filter housing outlet duct. Disconnect the electrical connector from the canister purge valve. Disconnect the EVAP line quick connect fittings. Remove the purge valve and mounting bracket as a single assembly, then depress the lock tab and slide the purge valve off the mounting bracket. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the EVAP canister purge valve by depressing the release tab and pulling off the connector.

Remove the EVAP canister and the heat shield. Disconnect the vapor hose and electrical connector from the vent solenoid. On 2014 and earlier models, detach the vent solenoid and dust separator assembly from the canister. On 2015 and later models, rotate the vent solenoid clockwise and pull it out of the canister. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The canister vent solenoid is normally open but seals off the EVAP system for inspection and maintenance testing, as well as for OBD-II leak and pressure tests.

The FLW assembly controls the flow of fuel vapors into the EVAP system, prevents overfilling during refueling, and stops liquid fuel from entering the EVAP lines in case of a rollover. It cannot be serviced separately from the fuel tank.

Start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the engine cover. Then, disconnect the electrical connector from the canister purge valve and the EVAP line quick-connect fittings. Remove the purge valve mounting stud bolts or mounting bracket nuts and bracket, and remove the assembly.

Reconnect the battery and allow the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy.
