    Q:
How do you remove and install the radio and speakers on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
For 2006 through 2009 models, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, remove the center trim panel and the glove box. Take out the radio mounting screws, but do not attempt to pull out the radio until the large multi-pin electrical connector is disconnected from the back, as the harness is too short. Reach through the glove box opening to disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the radio, then pull out the radio and disconnect the antenna cable. Installation follows the reverse order. For 2010 and later models, note that the radio consists of the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) and the Audio Control Module (ACM), with the FCIM being the controls visible in the center trim panel and the ACM located behind it. The FCIM can be replaced at home, but the ACM requires dealer service for module configuration. Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then remove the center trim panel. If equipped with a navigation system, remove the four Front Display Interface Module screws and the FDIM. For replacing the FCIM or center trim panel, remove the screws and detach the FCIM. To remove the ACM, take out the mounting screws, pull out the ACM, and disconnect the antenna cable and all electrical connectors, with installation being the reverse of removal. For door speakers, applicable to both front and rear, remove the door trim panel, then the speaker mounting screws, pull the speaker out, and disconnect the electrical connectors, with installation reversing the process. For door tweeters, remove the door trim panel and sail panel, disconnect the tweeter electrical connector, and for 2012 and earlier models, remove the mounting screws, while for 2013 and later models, disengage the clips to remove the speaker. Detach the tweeter harness from the clip on the back of the sail panel and remove the tweeter, with installation reversing the steps. For the instrument panel speaker, carefully pry off the cover, remove the retaining screws, lift the speaker out, and disconnect the electrical connector, with installation reversing the process. For rear speakers, which may vary by year and model, remove the package tray, take out the speaker mounting screws, lift the speaker, and disconnect the electrical connector, with installation following the reverse order.

    Q:
How do you disconnect and remove the radio and speakers on Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. On 2011 and later models, the radio consists of the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM), the Audio Control Module (ACM), and a Front Display Interface Module (FDIM). The FCIM is located in the center trim panel, the ACM is a separate component in the dash behind the FCIM, and the FDIM is the touch screen. The FCIM can be replaced at home, but the ACM or FDIM must be replaced by a dealer service department due to the need for module configuration programming. For 2010 and earlier models, remove the center trim panel, then the radio mounting screws to detach the radio from the instrument panel, and pull it out just enough to access the electrical connectors and antenna cable. Disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna lead from the backside of the radio and remove it, with installation being the reverse of removal. For 2011 and later models, remove the FCIM, then the ACM mounting screws and assembly from the instrument panel, disconnect the electrical connectors at the rear of the module, and reinstall in reverse order. For the FCIM, place the shift lever in neutral for automatic transmission models, remove the shift lever trim panel, floor console trim screws, and screws from the bottom of the center trim panel. The center trim panel incorporates the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and is removed as an assembly. Use a plastic trim tool to disengage the retaining clips and remove the FCIM assembly, disconnecting the electrical connectors at the module before reinstalling in reverse order. For the FDIM, remove the FCIM, then the FDIM fasteners and assembly from the instrument panel, disconnect the electrical connectors, and reinstall in reverse order. For door speakers, remove the door trim panel, speaker mounting screws, pull out the speaker, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the speaker, with installation being the reverse of removal. For door subwoofers, remove the subwoofer grille trim panel, door trim panel, eight mounting screws from the front side of the subwoofer, and a single retaining screw from the backside, then pull out the subwoofer, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove it, reinstalling in reverse order. For quarter panel speakers, remove the quarter panel trim, four speaker mounting screws, pull out the speaker, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove it, with installation being the reverse of removal. For parcel shelf speakers, disconnect the speaker electrical connector from inside the trunk area, remove the parcel shelf, remove the speaker mounting screws, and remove the speaker, reinstalling in reverse order. For the speaker enclosure, open the trunk, move the trunk mat, remove the mounting bolts/nuts, disconnect the electrical connectors, and remove the speaker enclosure from the trunk, with installation being the reverse of removal.

    Q:
What are the steps to remove the FCIM in the 2009 Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Open the floor console storage armrest, then use a plastic trim tool to disengage the retaining clips around the perimeter of the floor console/cup holder trim panel and remove the panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the shift console. 2. Remove the left and right floor console upper side trim panels using a trim tool. 3. Open the storage bin door, then use a trim tool to pry out the USB/media port trim and disconnect the electrical connectors from the media port panel. 4. Remove the left and right floor console side trim panels using a trim tool. 5. Remove the storage compartment fasteners. Lift the rear of the storage compartment up to disengage the rear clips, then slide the storage compartment away from the instrument panel to disengage the upper clips and remove the compartment assembly from the floor console. Disconnect any electrical connectors. 6. Using a plastic trim tool, disengage the center speaker grille fasteners around the perimeter and remove the instrument panel center speaker. 7. Remove the FCIM retaining screws at the bottom and sides of the FCIM. Using a plastic trim tool, start at the bottom of the panel and work your way around to the top, disengaging the retaining clips. 8. Remove the FCIM from the instrument panel. 9. If you're removing the FCIM from the trim panel, remove the mounting screws and separate the FCIM from the panel.
