    Q:
How do you disconnect and remove the headlight switch on 1993-2011 Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. For 1993 and 1994 models, remove the ashtray and two instrument panel trim panel screws, then snap off the trim panel and the storage bin. Pull the headlight switch out as far as it will go, then reach up along the side of the switch nearest the driver's door to push the knob release button. While holding the button down, pull the knob and shaft out of the switch. Unscrew the switch retaining nut with your fingers, being cautious as the nut is plastic and should not be handled with tools. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch and take the switch out. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal, ensuring the switch tab aligns with the notch in the instrument panel. For 1995 and later models, remove the instrument cluster bezel, then remove the switch screws and detach the switch from the bezel, noting that later models use retaining tabs instead of screws. To remove the switch, depress the tabs and pull it out, and for installation, follow the reverse order of removal.
