Ford Bronco Ignition Coil

For the Ford Bronco, the Ignition Coil is extremely crucial as it is responsible for rendering power from the vehicles 12-volt battery into high voltage (approximately 15000 - 40000 volts) that is required to ignite the air/fuel mix in the engine cylinders. This element plays the role of an intermediary switch between the first and second circuits of the ignition system; consists of two coils of insulated copper wire wound on an iron core and produces the necessary voltage. There have been several ignition coil configurations used in Bronco models over the years, these are the single coil, distributor ignition systems, COP ignition as well as wasted spark ignition systems. The latter two do away with the high tension leads and distributors, COP systems having one coil per cylinder while wasted spark employing one coil for two cylinders. These are the biggest points of divergence between these systems; efficiency and complexity determine performance and maintenance requirements. When the ignition coil is faulty, you can experience some of these symptoms such as misfiring of the engine, poor fuel economy, and warning lamps on the dashboard.
