Q: How to remove and install the Evaporator on Ford Excursion?
A: Have the air conditioning system discharged. Remove the accumulator. On diesel models, remove the nuts that secure the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor bracket and set the MAP sensor and bracket aside. On gasoline models, remove the nuts that secure the vapor management valve bracket and set the vapor management valve and bracket aside. Disconnect the condenser-to-evaporator tube from the NC evaporator tube as follows: Remove the tube lock coupling clip, install the spring lock coupling disconnect tool over the spring lock coupling, push the tool to the right to disengage the female fitting from the tube lock coupling spring, pull the spring lock coupling fittings apart, remove the old 0-rings and install new ones, remove the old tube lock coupling spring and install a new one. Remove the accumulator bracket bolts and remove the bracket. On diesel models, remove the intercooler duct. Detach the harness clips from the evaporator housing support bracket, remove the bracket bolts and remove the bracket. Remove the evaporator cover screws and remove the evaporator cover. Remove the evaporator. Installation is the reverse of removal. When you're done, have the system evacuated, recharged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
