Q: How to remove and install a clutch release cylinder on Ford F-150?
A: Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the clip and disconnect the hydraulic line at the transmission. If you don't have a clutch coupling tool to disconnect the clutch fluid hydraulic line from the transmission, use a screwdriver instead - carefully push the spring-loaded transmission side of the coupling toward the transmission and simultaneously pull straight out on the hydraulic line side of the fitting. Have a small can and rags handy, as some fluid will be spilled as the line is removed. Plug the line to prevent excessive fluid loss and contamination. Remove the transmission. Remove the clutch slave cylinder mounting bolts. Remove the clutch slave cylinder bolts and remove the slave cylinder. Remove the clutch slave cylinder. Install the clutch slave cylinder into the transmission. Tighten the bolts to the torque. Install the transmission. Connect the hydraulic line fitting to the transmission and install the clip. Check the fluid level in the clutch fluid reservoir, adding brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 specifications until the level is correct. Bleed the system, then recheck the clutch fluid level.
