The first step to change the bulb is by opening the hood. On first generation, remove the retainer in the back of the headlight, and then withdraw the bulb socket out of the assembly. A gentle removal of the bulb from the socket is done without twisting it, additionally, it is recommended that one should not touch the bulb by hand. Replace the new bulb into the socket where the flat side of the bulb with the writing 'PLASTIC BASE' is facing up, then align the socket locating tabs with the notches on the base of the headlight housing and push the rubber socket into its position until the mounting flange touches the housing. Slide the retainer onto the pump and only turn the retainer clockwise until one cannot turn it anymore. For the later models, the headlight assembly needs to be taken off, and then the bulb socket needs to be twisted in the anti-clockwise direction and then pulled out. When removing, one needs to bring the bulb out of the socket carefully most of the time by pulling by the base then the process of installing is just the same in reverse. When the bulb has been replaced, check how the headlights operate and then close the hood. A general check up and adjustment of the position of the headlights should be done once by a dealer service department or service station at the earliest time possible. On early models for housing removal and installation, remove the bulb and wiring, and then unsnap the housing tabs to release the housing from the grille opening. In subsequent models, undo the headlight housing retainers, slide the headlight out as well as disconnect the electrical connectors. Removal is the exact opposite of installation and headlight alignment should be checked.
