How do you replace the headlight bulb with a separate halogen bulb on Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

Such models are equipped with a headlight with a separate halogen bulb, the replacement of which is easy when it is burned out, while the housing is replaced only if it is damaged. First unfasten the negative terminal on the battery with a spanner; second, eliminate the electrical connection at the back of the headlight assembly. For headlight housings of the models manufactured after 1997, one has to loosen the headlight housing assembly by turning the four-arm ring a quarter and pulling the headlight housing off the base. Manipulate the bulb vertically without twisting and when replacing the bulb, ensure one doesn't touch the bulb with bare hands ensuring the flat side of the plastic base of the bulb is up. Bring the socket locating tabs into the corresponding slots in the plastic base and snap the socket into the base having the base mounting flange touching the socket. Insert the retaining ring and wiggle it clockwise until it locks into place against the stop; replace the headlight housing in 1997 and later models. Finally plug the electrical connector back in and check the operation of the headlight and have the adjust check and adjusted as soon as possible from a dealer service department or a service station.
