    How to remove and install a distributor on Mercury Capri? Posted by Customer
    A:
    Unplug primary lead from coil and module connector. Follow wires to distributor connector. Note "1" on cap. Remove cap and turn engine until rotor points to number one spark plug terminal. Mark distributor base below rotor tip. Mark distributor base and engine block. Remove holddown bolt and clamp, then pull distributor straight up. Insert distributor in same position. Mesh gears if necessary. Check alignment marks and rotor. If crankshaft moved, locate TDC and position distributor and rotor. Install holddown clamp and bolt. Install cap and tighten screws. Plug in module connector. Reattach spark plug wires. Connect battery cable. Check timing and tighten bolt.
